TOTTS GO FIVE FROM FIVE WITH CHOBHAM WIN

by | Feb 15, 2026 | Senior Rugby

Tottonians made it five wins in a row to keep the pressure firmly on the top four with a battling victory over a tenacious Chobham side who belied their lowly league position to give the visitors a stern test.

Regional 2 South Central – match 17

Totts secured a hard fought victory against a lively Chobham side who were certainly up for this game.

The game was played in bright sunny conditions with hardly any wind.  This was a real bonus for the players and supporters who had become used to wet, windy and cold weather.  A special mention at this point to all the Tottonians who travelled to support the team.

Chobham kicked off and put Tottonians under pressure early on.  After a few minutes, second row Charlie Quinn was sin binned for a high tackle.  This resulted in some continued pressure from Chobham and they took their reward with a try to the right of the posts which was converted.

Totts fought back and Harry Dolbear scored after a great run by Connor Andrews.  The try was converted by Jamie Laing to tie the scores up at 7-7 with 25 minutes played.

Another great run by Connor Andrews, a feature of this game, led to Chobham being penalised and Laing posted the kick to give the visitors the lead.

It wasn’t to last long though as Chobham’s backs continued to press which would see them regain the lead once more in first half injury time.

However, Totts were to go into the half-time break with a lead as the scrum started to dominate and after a fantastic scrum effort, Nic Jansen broke away to score to take a 15-12 advantage into half-time.

The second half kicked off and it was again the home side and their backs putting the pressure on, and got an early try after some missed Totts tackles which handed them back the lead at 19-15.  At this stage it felt that the game could go either way.

However, Tottonians came right back and Jake Grimes scored a good try to put us back in the lead and from that point on,  Totts started to get the better of play and continually put pressure on Chobham. Josh Andrews scored the first of his tries; the conversion was missed 19 – 25 to Totts. At 3.42 Josh Andrews scored our final try followed by a successful conversion.  The final score was 19 Chobham – 32 Tottonians.

A solid team performance with some great individual efforts from Connor Andrews (Player of the match) and Nic Jansen with his strong running.  I was impressed with the whole of the front row but President’s Pick of the Day was Josh Andrews with a great performance which goes to prove you can get back on the pitch after a nasty injury given hard work and a positive attitude.

Thank you Chobham for the game and being great hosts throughout the afternoon and early evening.
